Everyone was having fun, patiently waiting for the show and I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to a fellow photographer and her husband, Meredith and Jason, who recently moved here from Denver. So after meeting new friends, the oohs and aahs, and nice ovation after an amazing firework show, I have to say it was a good 4th of July. Here are some photos of the show, enjoy and take care.

I really love the series of photos where the guy was sitting on a rock sticking out in the middle of the lake.

Chelsea is taking a summer break from her studies to spend time with her family and friends in Austin, before heading back to College Station in July. Chelsea is currently hoping to have a career in the health care field and I wish her the best.

Here are some pictures of the shoot with aspiring model Steven.  Steven contacted me regarding getting some portfolio pictures and was a great sport for waking up so early to get ready and do the shoot at seven in the morning.  Steven was laid back, probably because he was still tired and wondering why he agreed to wake up so early and was very patient as the wind kept on blowing over my strobe. My intention was for a beautiful sunrise and a sunny partly cloudy day, but I ended up with a windy cloudy overcast.  We made the most of it and I was actually happy with how the pictures came out.  I thank you Steven for having such a great attitude that early in the day and for catching my light stand every time the wind blew over.  Note to self – invest in sandbags.

My sister and her husband adopted a golden from GRR two years ago and they help out with GRR as much as they can.  I usually tag along with them to these events to help where I can and enjoy the company of these great dogs. GRR is a great service for rescuing these dogs from the streets and being put down.  GRR’s website has stories of these rescued dogs up for adoption that I go to read up all the time.  I hope to one day have the means to foster and adopt some goldens, they are really great dogs, drool and all. This puppy up for adoption, just had surgery on his arm and spent all day in a carriage.  How can you not adopt this puppy with those eyes?

There were other dogs besides the golden retrievers that attended.  The one below was a therapy dog from Therapy Pet Pals of Texas, Inc….

who apparently thought he was a lap dog.

There were dogs large and small.  I love the picture of the dog yawning, every time I look at this picture it would make me yawn too, lol.

Honey & Matt were fun to shoot, they were just carefree and laid back.  The ceremony was very simple and the reception was very casual where guest were treated to wedding cake and ice cream.  I was hoping to partake in some of the cake and ice cream, but thought that I should behave, lol.  Anyhow I wish Honey & Matt the best and I thank you guys for letting me share in your special day.

I had been thinking for a while what I can do that was fun and creative with the shootsac cover and then one night while I was cleaning my room, I found a bag of origami pieces I had forgotten about.  There are about one thousand pieces of small one by two inch paper I have to fold and then assemble to construct into a larger figure.  I have 100 or so pieces folded, but that gave me the idea to turn the Shootsac cover into a simple origami crane.  I know it is not anything great, but it was fun to setup and shoot.  Take care everyone and have a great weekend.

Sarah and Neal are both Texas natives and met through friends at Texas A&M.  They were very fun to shoot and are very comfortable with each other.  They smiled, told jokes and finished each other’s sentences through out the shoot. They were both naturals in front of the camera and you can tell the cold weather was not bothering them when they were in each other’s arms.  Sarah & Neal, thank you for being great sports and telling me your stories.  I wish you two only the best in the future.

I especially have to thank Tara for inviting me to second shoot with her in Burnett and for introducing me to makeup artist, Rouchelle from Beautiful Reflections.  I had a great time, had fun, and learned a lot from you.

I had an absolute blast at the shoot.  Like I said before, it was my first time to WPPI and this was a great way to start it out.  I look forward to seeing all the great photographers I met at WPPI next year and hopefully we can do another fun and crazy shoot.  Take care everyone.

I ran across this particular video last month, but did not have a chance to sit down and really see it.  I finally did and the video really made me stop and think about where I am heading with my life and career, what is important and what is not….  It was really moving and inspirational and I don’t want to ruin the video by telling you guys so I will let you guys see for yourself.
